The G8 already looks great when it arrives straight from the factory floor. The sleek design and smooth-looking interior give the car an aura of controlled power with a hint of unbridled fury lurking under the hood. But, that doesn't mean you can't add a little more mystery to your G8. With this performance vehicle, a little tinting goes a long way. A lot of owners do a wraparound tint on the G8 that darkens the interior so much that it's nearly impossible to see inside. With a dark paint on the exterior, that kind of tint can look almost sinister. We like it. It's illegal in a lot of states, but we like it.
There are also practical reasons to tint your G8. First, the more sunlight you can keep from the interior of your car, the better. The UV rays from the sun can cause cracking or fading to the interior. The tinting helps to prevent that from happening. Second, if you leave your G8 sitting in the sun (for example, during the summer), the interior can reach temperatures hot enough to roast a chicken. Tinting can keep the inside of your G8 up to 60% cooler. Third, if you apply tinting to the windshield, you can practically eliminate all of the glare that comes through. That makes for safer driving.
Of course, the most common reason for tinting is for greater privacy and simply because it looks mysterious. But, keep in mind that each state has legal tinting limits. For example, California requires you to allow at least 70% of the sunlight into your windows while Arkansas only requires 25% (which means you can use darker tinting). Frankly, a G8 that doesn't have any tinting looks like it's missing something. We had it done to our G8's and we love it. We recommend you do it, too.
