Most of us don't spend a lot of time thinking about the G8's safety features. But, they're there for a good reason. When you're opening up your G8 on the road, anything can happen. Crash Avoidance

Your G8 comes with anti-lock brakes and a 4-wheel vented disc. A feature called the Electronic Brake Assist is also included. That should help you avoid running into somebody. Your tires should have indicators that will tell you when the tread is wearing down. Plus there's an internal monitoring system that alerts you to low tire pressure. These things may not seem exciting, but they can make a huge difference. The G8 sedan and GT also use GM's StabiliTrak system. It continually runs sensors to compensate when the angle of the steering wheel and the direction you're turning your G8 are different. It's designed to help you maintain control of your car.

Passenger And Driver Protection

There's always the possibility that you won't be able to avoid a wreck in your G8. Whether someone hits you on the side or you're unable to stop quickly enough to avoid slamming into the car in front of you, Pontiac has you covered. Of course, the G8 comes with the safety belts. You'll also have the standard front and side airbags for the driver and the front passenger. The G8 also comes with beams in the side of the door for extra protection. The windshield is made from a urethane-bonded and laminated glass. Good planning from Pontiac.

OnStar Service

The G8 comes with the OnStar system. Everyone should have this in their car. We're glad it's in our G8. If you're involved in a traffic accident, an OnStar rep will walk you step-by-step through what you should do. You don't even need to call them. If your G8 gets hit, the OnStar system automatically contacts an advisor who will call you to offer help. If you've ever been involved in an accident, you know how traumatic it is. It's hard to think straight. Having someone in your ear, helping you is a major benefit. Hopefully, you'll never wreck your G8. But, the OnStar system is there if you do.

We think Pontiac has done a great job with the G8's safety features. The StabiliTrak system helps you avoid accidents while the frame of the car is designed to protect you if you get hit. And of course, we consider the OnStar system one of those "must have" features. Like I said, Pontiac has you covered.
