For most of us, the color of our G8 is almost as important as the features and engine (almost, but not quite). After all, that's what stands out when people see you driving. Pontiac has released a series of attractive colors for their G8 that are sure to grab people's attention. When you buy your G8, you'll have your choice of several exterior and interior colors. Some are smooth and sleek. Others border on bombastic.
The selection of paints and interior colors for the G8 may change during the year. If some combinations prove to be less-popular than others, you can expect Pontiac to limit them. Here's a rundown of what's currently available.
Exterior Colors
There are six standard paint colors available for the G8's exterior: White Hot, Stealth Blue Metallic, Panther Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Liquid Red and Ignition Orange Metallic. A lot of younger owners seem to gravitate toward the White Hot, Liquid Red and Ignition Orange Metallic exteriors. Other owners seem to prefer conservative exteriors such as Magnetic Gray and Panther Black.
We haven't seen many Stealth Blues on the road. They're surely out there, but that color seems to be less popular than the others. When the Pontiac G8 GXP debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, it was presented in Ignition Orange. Pontiac obviously expects that color to be popular. That car is built to attract attention, so Ignition Orange seems to fit it well.
Interior Colors
The standard interior colors include Onyx leather, Onyx/Red leather, Onyx premium cloth and Onyx/Red premium cloth. There have been a few two-tone color schemes launched that a lot of people are excited about. There's currently a white and gray scheme. Honestly, that one didn't excite us. The white used for the instruments in the main console seemed difficult to read. Some owners like the scheme, so maybe it's our eyes. There's also a red and black scheme that's very sporty-looking. The dark seats have a nice red trim and help open up the interior. We've seen the all-black interior and it almost feels claustrophobic. But, it's a matter of personal preference.
Choosing Your G8's Look
Pontiac had provided a lot of flexibility with their interior and exterior color schemes. If you want your G8 to look conservative and sleek, one of the darker metallics for the exterior would work well. Of you want people to notice you on the road, the Liquid Red or Ignition Orange is probably the right flavor. Everything depends upon your tastes. I couldn't drive an orange car, but lots of people love the look. Of course, you can also have a scheme custom-designed for you, but you'll pay extra for that privilege.
