Greensboro’s Volvo Trucks North America saw a 5 percent decline in deliveries of its trucks in 2007, even as deliveries increased in the fourth quarter.

The company delivered 31,889 trucks in the fourth quarter, a 6 percent increase from fourth quarter 2006. But deliveries for the year dipped 5 percent, to 100,109.

Total Volvo truck deliveries (which includes brands such as Mack and Renault) for the fourth quarter were up 30 percent, to 76,525, while deliveries for all of 2007 were up 7 percent, to 236,356.

The company’s Swedish parent firm, Volvo Group reported Wednesday strong earnings and sales growth for the fourth quarter. Sales were up 25 percent and operating income increased 12 percent.

For the year, sales increased 10 percent and operating income rose 9 percent.

Net income was down 8 percent for the year, while it was up 11 percent in the fourth quarter.
