Keller Outdoor Inc. won its appeal to continue operating heavy-duty equipment and trucks until May 20 in Winter Park despite a neighbor’s complaints about noise and dirt.
The city previously had allowed the landscape company to set up operations on Indiana Avenue until it builds a facility in Sanford, because the site was used for similar purposes in the past.
The planning and zoning commission in January sided with nearby town-house owner Alexander Zouzoulas in voting that Keller’s use of the property violated the city code.
But Monday, city commissioners unanimously agreed to let Keller continue operating. They were unconvinced by Zouzoulas’ complaints of “grinding” noise and dirt traveling from Keller’s property to his pool. Commissioner Doug Metcalf said the use was preferable to a fast-food restaurant, which the city code allows on the site.
