On January 18, 2011 Freightliner trucks announced its collaboration with McNeilus Companies. The collaboration came into existence to develop New Bridge Formula Mixer.
Freightliners new truck will be ideal for ready mix market, the new vocational product features 114in BBC severe Duty and Set Forward Axle featuring light weight cab materials and strong structure. The 114SD SFA becomes industry’s most productive mixer allowing a 36 foot bridge and is with a GVC of 66,000 lb and 9.5 to 9.7 cubic yard payload capacity.
The truck is equipped with 10.5 cubic yard McNeilus Bridgemaster Transit Mixer.
General Manager of vocational sales Richard Saward is very excited to have McNeilus Companies as a partner. McNeilus will be providing with highest quality of mixer chassis. The 114SD SFA chassis will not only be high performers and with increased payload and productivity but also they are been designed to reduce time and cost related to body installation.
McNeilus Companies sales vice president, Tom Harris states that engineers at McNeilus have worked very closely with Freightliner trucks to design 114SD SFA so that the mixer can be easy fitted. The mixer manufacturer is very pleased with the results as the chassis integrated well with the mixer; Tom hopes to work with Freightliner again in future.
The 114SD SFA chassis are not lighter in weight which offers weight savings but is also with easy body installation.
The rear of the cab is clean which makes body installation too easy. Clean cab back is achieved by under step fuel tank which is up to 70 gallon and Selective Catalytic Reduction every this is settled under the cab. Thus this maximizes front axle capacity with clear rear chassis for body and lift axles.
The 114SD SFA mixer chassis are offered equipped with Detroit Diesel DD13 engines that generates 350 horsepower and makes 1,350 lb ft of torque. The mixer chassis is tuned to give out maximum torque at low rpm for strong launch power. From the fourth quarter of this year this Freightliner truck will also be offered with Cummins 9 liter lightweight engine.
