Need a fire truck? The City of Tyler has one for sale.
You’ll need at least $10,000. That’s the next-highest bid on the auction Web site where the fire truck, and about 25 other city-owned vehicles, is on the block.
The fire truck’s a beauty, if not a bit worn. It’s a Hendrickson Emergency One 1971-WA, 110-foot Aerial Fire Truck with 26,816 miles showing (not guaranteed). You can see from the photos that the front seat cover is a bit cracked, but the paint is shiny.
The photos, and all of the other items up for bid, are available to view by visiting www.auctioneerexpress.com.
The city is doing some spring cleaning. It’s listed two Ford Tauruses, 14 various makes and models of pickup trucks, five hydraulic power units, and a table on the auction site.
Are you a small-town mayor in need of a new police cruiser? You might pick one up for a bargain. The city has five of them listed, plus some police unit accessories, and even a prisoner seat.
You don’t have to work for a city to pick up a cruiser. Any average Joe could get his very own Bluesmobile with a high-enough bid.
A Jacobsen 2315 Utility Cart with a Kubota 3-cylinder diesel engine already has 10 bids.
There’s a used desk with one bid of $1. As long as no one else places a bid between now and April 30 (when all of the city’s auctions close), that bidder will walk home with a deal.
All of the items will be sold to the highest bidder, city officials say, as long as the high bid is sufficient for the city representative serving as the auctioneer. You can inspect the vehicles before bidding by calling Russ Jackson, Vehicle Services director, at 903-531-1321.
There’s a long list of terms and conditions for bidders to review at and even more details on the surplus motors, mowers, trailers and trucks the city hopes to unload by the end of this month.
