The Chicago Auto Show opens Friday, but car industry execs were at McCormick Place on Wednesday. So was the Tribune’s Rick Popely, who blogged about the latest in the Toyota versus Chevrolet battle.
Ed Peper, Chevy‘s general manager, said the sales race with Toyota to be the top brand in the U.S. is far from over, despite predictions that Toyota would prevail this year.
“Some folks just handed Toyota the championship before we even played a game,” Peper said. He wouldn’t predict Chevrolet would keep the sales title, but he was confident it would stay in the game.
He gives a lot of credit to the new Malibu. “It’s done so much for the franchise.”
