Autocar A64 is a heavy duty truck that was manufactured by Autocar Company. Today, old Autocar made trucks are classified as vintage trucks. Autocar Company is a specialist’s manufacturer of refuse trucks with vocational cab over designs. Company started as Brass Era automobiles in 1899 and started manufacturing cars. Last car to run out of the production assembly was in 1912. After ceasing car production the company wholly concentrated on manufacturing trucks until 1953, since then the company was taken over by White Truck Company. In the 1960’s many auto companies were either merging or were taken over by other auto manufacturing company. The White Motor Truck Company was then taken over by Volvo Trucks in 1980. Autocar continued to function as a subsidiary of Volvo till 2001. Volvo sold Autocar to Grand Vehicle Works Holdings. Today the Autocar name is used the GVWH to sell their line of trucks.
